My name is Jared Knollenberg, and the Huskers have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. I enjoy writing freelance articles about Husker sports and sports in general. I graduated from Fremont High School.
Playing the Quarterback position at Nebraska is one that comes with great praise and stardom, to counter that, playing the quarterback position at Nebraska is one that comes with extreme pressure and scrutiny. Just last season, then 5 star true freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 4-1 start, averaging 245 yards per game while throwing nine touchdowns to two interceptions. During the next four starts, it looked like a completely flipped script. Raiola would fail to reach 200 passing yards in three out of the four and would throw just one touchdown compared to six interceptions.…
If the Huskers want any part of playing in the NCAA Tournament in two weeks, they need to put their devastating double overtime loss to Ohio State away and put full focus on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the regular season finale on Senior Day. The Huskers did everything right against the Buckeyes last Tuesday night. Brice Williams broke the Nebraska single game scoring record with 43 points and the Huskers we’re once again able to bounce back from a double digit second half deficit. After some poor officiating and two total overtime periods, the Huskers fell to the Buckeyes 116-114…
Still on the bubble, the Huskers hit the road for a must win game against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Huskers will walk into Columbus, Ohio after a disappointing home loss to Minnesota last Saturday, dropping their record to 17-12 (7-11). Pinnacle Bank Arena seemed lifeless from tipoff and it set the tone for the rest of the game, although the Huskers were able to rally back from an 18 point second half deficit, Gophers guard Brennan Rigsby hit the go-ahead three with four seconds left to secure the win for Minnesota. Rigsby, a rotational bench guard who averages 4.9…
With three regular season games remaining for the Huskers, opportunities are slipping away for Nebraska as they get set to host the 14-14 Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday afternoon. It has been a rough four game stretch for the Huskers, once seen as a potential 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Huskers dropped three out of four games, including a blowout road loss to Penn State, and most recently a home loss to #15 Michigan 49-46. Although the Huskers loss to Michigan won’t affect their chances much, it makes these remaining three games much more important for a Huskers team…
On the heels of one of the worst losses of the season, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are set to host a Top 25 Michigan Wolverines team, in an effort to bolster their NCAA Tournament resume. The Huskers were dominated by the Penn State Nittany Lions last Wednesday 89-72, dropping a pivotal Quad 2 road game to one of the Big Tens last placed teams. Michigan is not Penn State, record wise, matchup wise or coaching wise, which makes Monday nights game against the Wolverines one of the biggest games remaining for the Huskers to finish out the regular season. For Michigan,…
The Huskers were completely dominated, out played and out coached by Penn State, 89-72 on Wednesday night, dropping their record to 17-10 and 7-9 in conference play. From tipoff, it was clear that the Huskers we’re not ready to play against Penn State, committing six turnovers in the first 3 minutes and 22 seconds of game time. This is not the first time that the Huskers looked like they didn’t belong in a big road game, despite defeating the Northwestern Wildcats by 4 last Sunday, Nebraska trailed the Wildcats by 20 in the second half. Both offensively and defensively, it…
The Huskers will finish off their two game road trip with a visit to Penn State on Wednesday evening, after rallying back from a 20 point deficit to defeat Northwestern last Sunday afternoon. The Huskers now have a record of 6-7 in Quad 1 games, which is tied for fourth in the NCAA and marks the most Quad 1 wins for the program in a single season since they started being tracked in 2018. Penn State may not be a Quad 1 opponent, but that doesn’t mean things will be easy for the Huskers. Coached by former VCU Head Coach…
After being down by 20 points early in the second half, the Huskers rallied back to pick up a must have Quad 1 road win over the Northwestern Wildcats 68-64. The Huskers looked dead in the water throughout the entire first half, leading scorer Brice Williams was completely shut down, and Northwestern sharpshooter Ty Berry was on pace to have the best game of his career. Whatever happened in the Huskers locker room at halftime, completely changing the course of the entire game. After scoring just 21 points in the first half, the Huskers exploded in the second half, outscoring…
The Huskers hit the road to take on the injury depleted Northwestern Wildcats to start a two game road trip. Coached by longtime Wildcats head coach Chris Collins, 13-12 Northwestern has been up and down as the season has gone along, and are now dealing with some major injuries to their starting lineup. It was announced on January 28th that Wildcats second leading scorer Brooks Barnhizer will miss the remainder of the season due to injury, and just days later, the Wildcats would announce that starting point guard Jalen Leach would also miss the rest of the season with a…
Another ranked team awaits Pinnacle Bank Arena as the #25 Maryland Terrapins get set to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday night. The Terrapins are the third team that the Huskers will play twice in conference play (Iowa, Ohio State) and have been on a run ever since defeating the Huskers 69-66 back on January 19th. Coached by Kevin Willard in his third season, Maryland has won seven of their last nine games, including wins over #22 UCLA, #17 Illinois and #17 Wisconsin. The Terrapins are right in the mix in the loaded conference that is the Big Ten,…
