There may be no truth to a moral victory, but if there ever was, the Huskers got one against the Buckeyes.  Far and few between could you find someone that thought Nebraska would take a 17-14 lead against Ohio State in the fourth quarter, but that’s just what they did. For just the second time during Nebraska’s tenure with the Big Ten, the Huskers will be traveling to Bloomington, Indiana to face off with the #16th ranked Hoosiers.  Indiana will come into this game undefeated, currently sitting with a 6-0 mark. While Nebraska football had a weekend to rest and prepare, the other members of the Big Ten collided, fighting for improved position heading into the latter half of the season. In a game where Nebraska’s offense fluttered, it was the defense who stepped up and showed why they were pegged to be the anchor of this team all along. Going into week six, the biggest question mark for the Cornhuskers was whether or not the defense would be able to consistently stop Kyle Monangai and the Scarlet Knights rushing attack. It’s fair to say that every next game is the most important game. It was said against Colorado, and at the time, it was true. It was said against Illinois, which, at the time, was also true. In the first three games of the year, there  was a distinctive vibe— a fire, a high level of intensity that Nebraska’s defense was consistently bringing. They bullied their way to dominant performances, rushing the passer like bulls to a matador. It has been many moons since Nebraska football has found themselves in the position they are in now. Before the season, you’d have been hard-pressed to find Husker fans who believed we’d be going into the Illinois game ranked 22nd in the country.
