College football has changed over the years, and with recent rule changes, June has suddenly become a hotbed of when the majority of that years class will fill out. I would expect it to be no different this year, where the Huskers will land the majority of their class between now and Mid July, with the bulk being in June. With that magical month being about a month away, I figured it would be a good time to talk about where the Husker class sits as of now, and some key positions they are likely looking to target. …

Jack McCallister, who transferred to the Cornhuskers just months ago, has entered the transfer portal. McCallister, a former Washington punter, who averaged 44 yards per punt, was the presumed starter going into this year. While the Huskers also had Kamdyn Koch on the roster, McCallister is more developed and proven, and was brought in to be the starter or at least compete for it. McCallister re-entered the transfer portal on 16 April, shocking some fans. His time as a Husker was short lived. It’s not known where he will land. On 17 April, Matt Rhule expressed his regret…

Last weekend head coach Matt Rhule broke the news that recent Kentucky transfer receiver Hardley Gilmore was dismissed from the team. He did not lay out the reasons why, and the topic was not open for conversation. Matt Rhule said this “Nothing outside the program, nothing criminal or anything like that. Just won’t be with us anymore.” Gilmore transferred from Kentucky in January of this year. He played at Kentucky his Freshman year, hauling in 6 catches for 153 yards. Most of his freshman year he was held out due to injury. Not earth shattering, however, his ceiling was…

Heinrich Haarberg is now on his senior year at Nebraska, and first I just want to express my deep appreciate for him. He’s a Nebraska guy through and through. If anyone had a reason to jump ship, multiple times, it was him. However, Haarberg is a part of a dying breed of players that are loyal, and team focused. During Scott Frost’s last year, he wasn’t even allowed in the QB meetings. Fast forward to Matt Rhule’s first year, he found himself the starter, often sacrificing his body to make plays. And he did ok, with the depleted offense.  Following…

With the first week of spring practice underway, head coach Matt Rhule and Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgerson met with the media this week, along with a few key players to include Dylan Raoila. These interviews gave us some insight into what this offense of 2025 might look like. Rhule remarked that it would be a 50/50 offense. This is a slight deviation from his initial approach of this being a “run first” offense when he first took over. Many have speculated if Nebraska might become an air raid team, with new offensive coordinate Holgerson, as that’s been his…

Offensive identity: A key component to winning football team. It is something we can hope (and I fairly confident it has been) determined already by both Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Dana Holgerson. The basic strategy for the offensive scheme lays the foundation for the whole offense and in turn, having that foundation set by spring is crucial. Rhule came into Nebraska wanting to run the ball. The BIG 10 is a physical league, and Nebraska, as he remarked, was a tough blue collar type team. They were going to win the line of scrimmage and run the ball.…

The Nebraska Huskers had media availability with select coaches on 4 Mar 25, and one of the coaches that spoke to the media was newly hired special teams coach Mike Ekeler. Ekeler comes from Tennessee after having one of the best special teams units in the country, and takes over arguably one of the worst units in the country. He spoke very highly of Matt Rhule. He said Rhule was one of the best leaders he has ever been around. He explained that when Rhule talks in meetings, he is captivated and takes lots of notes. He remarked that…

Phil Snow, associate head coach and longtime college of Matt Rhule spoke with the media today. It is the first time since he was hired that the media was able to ask him questions and his interview revealed a lot about why he came here and what the direction of the team is in the offseason. To start with, Snow mentioned he was initially offered the job with Rhule when Rhule initially took over the Huskers. Snow at the time declined, citing his age was a factor in keeping up with the demands of recruiting and other facets. With…

News broke early on Friday that Nebraska had cancelled its home and home series with Tennessee for 2026 and 2027. Tennessee’s athletic director even took to social media to voice his disappointment in Nebraska. And of course, social media was set ablaze with people saying Nebraska backed out of a challenge and it was a bad look. So, what’s the story behind all of this? It’s actually pretty simple. Nebraska was previously supposed to start this home and home with Tennessee a few years back, but Tennessee asked Nebraska to reschedule it so they could play Virginia Tech at…
