Earlier this year Nebraska AD Troy Dannen said they were looking at using Memorial Stadium for additional events to help bring in revenue and it looks like Dannen is doing just that. Yesterday, it was officially announced the viral baseball team, the Savannah Bananas, will be playing in Memorial Stadium this June. As far as I know this will be the first baseball game ever played in Memorial Stadium. I expect this game to be a huge success just like Volleyball Day in Nebraska a few years back.
The stop in Lincoln will be just one of over 70 stops the Bananas will make on their World Tour. The Bananas will also make a stop at Haymarket Park two days before playing in front of 90,000 plus. First pitch in Memorial Stadium is set for 7 pm on June 13. The time for the game in Haymarket Park has not been announced at this time.
