Earlier today, Nebraska made a few major announcements. First is that Nebraska will be rocking all-black uniforms for its matchup against USC in November. The new uniforms are primarily black with a few while accents, and ZERO red. While the reaction to the release of the new alternative uniforms has been mixed, I don’t think they are terrible. They are cool but nothing special. They will be worn the day after Halloween, but why Adidas didn’t play more into the “Your Worst Nightmare” or “Children of the Corn” vibe I’ll never know.
The other major announcement that followed the new uniforms is that the game against USC will be a Blackout, meaning the University is asking ALL fans to wear black to the game. This is the first time I can remember that the University calling for a color outage. This has also been met with mixed reviews as well. All I will say on it is, if you are a true Nebraska fan and want to support the team, then you will wear black. You have two months of notice, and there are hundreds of black Nebraska apparel options to choose from. I’m even sure they will be selling limited-edition blackout shirts all around the stadium for that game as well, because revenue is the name of the game now.
