Nebraska picked up its highest-ranked recruit of the 2026 class with the commitment of four-star defensive back Danny Odem on Monday. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Nebraska commit is the No. 198 national recruit and the No. 27 overall prospect in Florida.
The Huskers beat out four top-tier Power Four programs — Ohio State, Penn State, Clemson and Oklahoma to land Odem.
Here’s his film: Junior season highlights.
Looking at Odem’s tape, he thrives in physical man-to-man coverage. Another thing that sticks out is his ability to jump routes. Whether it’s a curl or screen, he can read the receiver quickly and attack aggressively. Odem’s also not shy to come up in the box, which screams Big Ten cornerback.
Targeting Odem’s size replicates what defensive coordinator John Butler and secondary coach Addison Williams emphasized in this transfer portal this offseason. Anticipate Nebraska continuing to approach size in the defensive backfield going forward.
