Nebraska is expected to hire current Kentucky wide receivers coach Danikiel Shorts. He was a wideout for Holgorsen at West Virginia in 2016, then became a graduate assistant in 2018.
Shorts followed current Husker offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen to Houston, serving as the Director of Player Development from 2019-2020. He then would become the wide receivers coach from 2021-2023.
Shorts coached wide receiver Tank Dell, who had 2,727 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns in two years with Shorts as his receivers coach. Dell is currently a wideout for the Houston Texans.
The Nebraska receivers should be pretty pumped. Shorts will bring the ability to develop professionals. This will be huge for Nebraska, after seeing two highly paid transfer receivers underperform, Jahmal Banks and Isaiah Neyor.
This is a developing story.
