The Nebraska bowling team’s legacy of excellence continues to flourish as they dominated the NCAA Bowling National Championship banquet, with Jillian Martin securing the prestigious NTCA Player of the Year honors. This latest achievement adds another chapter to what has become college bowling’s most storied program.
Since becoming a varsity sport in 1998, Nebraska has established itself as the most successful collegiate bowling program in history, amassing an unprecedented eleven national championships. The program’s dominance is reflected in their remarkable achievement of qualifying for every NCAA championship tournament since its inception, a testament to their consistent excellence.
Through the 2023-24 campaign, the Huskers have accumulated 119 tournament titles in 261 competitions, showcasing their unparalleled consistency at the highest level. This winning tradition has been built on the shoulders of legendary performers and sustained through generations of talented bowlers who have donned the Scarlet and Cream.
The program’s statistical dominance is equally impressive. The current squad leads the nation in five major statistical categories, including an outstanding 79.8% win-loss percentage with a 91-23 record. Their mastery of both traditional frame average (21.113) and baker frame average (20.931) demonstrates their versatility and complete command of the sport.
Nebraska’s bowling program has produced 90 NTCA All-Americans, more than any other program in the nation. This legacy of individual excellence continues with the current team, as demonstrated by Martin’s exceptional season, where she led the nation in eight different statistical categories while maintaining a stellar 218.95 average.
The program’s success isn’t limited to individual achievements. The team’s collective performance, marked by the highest baker double percentage (55.8%) and strike percentage (54.1%) in the nation, showcases their ability to excel in both individual and team formats.
As the Huskers prepare for their next challenge at the 2025 NCAA Bowling Championship in Las Vegas, they carry with them not just the weight of expectation, but the confidence that comes from being part of college bowling’s most successful program. Their continued excellence serves as a reminder that while championships may come and go, true dynasties endure.
