Earlier today, Nebraska football commit, Tyson Terry wrote his name into Nebraska sports history. Terry became the first heavyweight ever to win four state titles and the 38th wrestler in Nebraska history to become a four-time state title winner Going into the match, Terry was 168-0 after beating Fremont’s Preston Wagner 2-1 in double overtime to keep his undefeated career alive. Under the brightest lights and with history nearly in his hands, Terry went into his final wrestling match with one goal in mind: dominate. Tyson would go up against Roberto Macias-Sidzyik from Creighton Prep and do just that.
After making history and finishing his high school career a perfect 169-0, Tyson Terry revealed that he was wrestling with a torn ACL, an injury sustained during this football season. While Terry’s wrestling career might be over as he focuses on playing football for Nebraska this year, the goal to dominate will stay the same, and I fully believe he will not only complete that goal but write his name into Nebraska sports history again, this time as a Blackshirt.
