In a groundbreaking announcement for college volleyball, the Nebraska Huskers will face Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at iconic Wrigley Field in Chicago, marking the first-ever volleyball match at the legendary home of the Chicago Cubs.
The matchup is part of the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week, featuring a high-profile doubleheader that also includes Penn State versus Kentucky. Both games will air live on FOX, bringing national attention to one of college sports’ fastest-growing spectacles in one of America’s most famous ballparks.
Nebraska will open its 2026 season against a strong SEC opponent in a venue unlike any other in the sport. The open-air setting under Wrigley’s ivy-covered walls promises an unforgettable atmosphere for players and fans alike.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our sport in a historic location,” Nebraska head coach John Cook said in the release. “Playing at Wrigley Field is something our team and our fans will never forget.” Exact start times and ticket information will be released at a later date. The event is expected to sell out quickly, given the novelty and the drawing power of all the programs.
The announcement highlights the continued growth of women’s volleyball and the Big Ten’s commitment to innovative, high-visibility scheduling. For the Huskers, it adds another marquee non-conference showcase to what is shaping up to be an exciting 2026 season.
