The Huskers 2025 schedule is one that shows appeal. This schedule is one that is full of possible wins across the board. To the drive by college football fan you see this schedule and think, Michigan, USC, and Penn State are the three biggest games of the year and rightfully so. Those games seem to be the toughest on the schedule for 2025. As we dive into this schedule breakdown, we will see where the Huskers stack up in the conference.

Vegas has Cincinnati with 6.5 win total on the year. While this Big 12 school will likely make a bowl game, I do not expect them to take the Huskers to the wire, delivering the Huskers their first quality power 5 win of 2025. Akron and Houston Christian are both seemingly easy wins as the tougher of the two, Akron, is expected to already have one loss the week before as they are a 9.5 point underdog when facing Wyoming.
Going into the Michigan game the Huskers should be without a doubt 3-0. Michigan however could be 2-1 (Dropping a game to Oklahoma) and I feel that if they are, Nebraska could very well end up winning this game. In reality the Wolverines will most likely beat Oklahoma as long as they get solid Quarterback play and be undefeated as well heading into this week 4 matchup. I do feel that this game will be a toss up. At the end of the day, a Michigan team that will win 8 games in 2025, drops one to the Huskers in Memorial Stadium due to being outmanned and out gameplanned while their young quarterback is met with a complicated Husker blitz package.
With Michigan State and Maryland both looking like very middle of the pack Big Ten teams this year, I expect both to be fighting for a bowl berth in the final game of the season. Nebraska moves to 6-0 and is undefeated and ranked in the Top 15 moving into a Friday night game at Minnesota on FOX. With a long trip the week before and a quick turn around, the Huskers have a tough hill to climb with this game. Historically the Golden Gophers play the Huskers tough and I do not see that changing this year. Even though the Gophers are going to finish in the bottom of the pack in the Big 10 for 2025, they put up a hard fight while the Huskers seek out their 7th win of the season and remain undefeated.
Win 8 comes as expected versus a down and out Northwestern team and going into the USC game, the Huskers are riding high on momentum and Rhule and CO. have the Huskers in the Top 10 for the first time in almost a decade. The playoff talks stop seeming like a pipe dream as Husker fans start truly believing in what this team can do. The Trojans will be coming off a bye week and fresh off a loss to a good Notre Dame team and dropping 3 straight in a row to Illinois, Michigan and the aforementioned Notre Dame. The Husker make that 4 straight losses handed to USC as they pull off a big win in Lincoln.
Even with adding Niko Iamaliava to the roster, UCLA has a tough time in 2025, nearly missing a bowl and making this loss to the Huskers their fourth of the season with Ohio State, Washington and an angry USC left to play. The Huskers pick up win number 10 on the year, having Husker fans on a long missed high, with national media buzzing of Matt Rhule’s three year method. Dropping a prime time game to Penn State who may already have 2 losses after run-ins with Ohio State and Oregon, the Huskers are brought back to earth but still heading to the Big 10 Championship game pending the last game of the year against Iowa.
Sitting at 10-1 the Huskers host the Hawkeyes who are fairly beat up after dropping 3 of their last 5 games to Penn State, Oregon and USC. The Huskers are too hot for the Hawkeyes to handle in 2025, leading to a 2 score victory.
The Huskers finish the regular season 10-1, land a spot in the Big 10 Championship in a very top heavy conference, and find themselves in the playoffs. This however is all based off from a huge win against Michigan. I believe being in Lincoln gives the Huskers an edge. Cam Lenhardt proves himself in this game to be an All Big Ten caliber player and Van Poppel isn’t too far behind, calming the Huskers worries about the defensive line this year. In this game we will see our running back room and offensive line shine, clearing the way for Raiola to have a great game targeting the deepest wide receiver room in the Big Ten. With football being such a game of confidence and momentum, if the Huskers can win this game, I do see the schedule playing out accordingly. Our 40 years wandering the desert could be over as Husker fans.
