No 19 Nebraska rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat No 21 Oregon by a score of 10 to 8 on Saturday afternoon. The win evened the Top 25 series in Eugene, Oregon. Nebraska improved to 27-8 overall and 12-2 in Big Ten play. Oregon fell to 25-10 and 9-5 in conference action. The Huskers recorded 10 runs on 15 hits, while the Ducks had eight runs on 11 hits along with one error.
Every starter in the Nebraska lineup collected at least one hit. This marked the first time the team achieved this feat since 2024. Sanderson finished 3 for 5 at the plate with five runs batted in. His two home runs anchored the offensive comeback. Dylan Carey also homered and went 2 for 5 with one run batted in. Jett Buck recorded 3 for 4, including a double. Mac Moyer was 2 for 6 and hit a triple. Miken Miller reached base twice and scored twice. Joshua Overbeek drove in two runs with a home run. Rhett Stokes and Max Buettenback each contributed a hit and a run batted in. Jeter Worthley added a hit and drew two walks.
On the mound, Carson Jasa started and pitched three and two-thirds innings. He allowed five runs on six hits, struck out four, and walked four. Caleb Clark earned the victory, moving to 2 and 2 on the season. He yielded one run in one and one-third innings of relief work. Ryan Harrahill recorded a pair of outs in relief. Jalen Worthley surrendered one run over one and one-third innings. J Shawn Unger secured his seventh save of the season. He tossed two innings and allowed one run while striking out the final two batters he faced.
Oregon built an early lead with two run batted in doubles in the first two innings for a 4 to 0 advantage after two innings. A run batted in single in the third extended the Ducks lead to 5 to 0. The Huskers responded strongly in the fourth inning. They sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs on eight hits. Sanderson and Carey opened the inning with consecutive solo home runs to center field, cutting the deficit to 5 to 2. Following a single by Buck and a fielder’s choice by Miller, Overbeek launched a two-run home run to right field. This brought Nebraska within one at 5 to 4. Singles by Stokes, Moyer, and Jeter Worthley loaded the bases. Sanderson then delivered a two-run batted-in single to left center field. This gave the Huskers a 6 to 5 lead.
Nebraska added two unearned runs in the fifth to push the lead to 8 to 5. Buck was hit by a pitch and later scored after Miller reached on a throwing error during a sacrifice bunt attempt. Miller advanced to third on the play, and Buettenback drove him in with a sacrifice fly to left field. Oregon narrowed the gap with solo home runs in the fifth and seventh innings. This made the score 8 to 7 heading into the final two innings. Sanderson provided insurance in the eighth with his second home run of the day. The two-run shot to center field scored Worthley and extended the lead to 10 to 7.
In the ninth, Oregon trimmed the lead to two runs with a run batted in double. However, Unger closed out the game by recording the final two outs on swinging strikeouts, securing the victory for Nebraska. The Huskers will look to take the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. Central Time on B1G Plus.
