Nebraska: A Strong Start with a Few Adjustments
Three games into the 2024 season, Nebraska is exactly where I expected(see my prediction article here for the first 3 games https://carrikerchronicles.com/nebraska-10-2-really-yup-i-think-so-2/ )—dominating defensively while the offense lags slightly behind predicted scoring totals. A quick recap of the results shows that Nebraska’s defense has been a standout, holding opponents well below their potential and keeping my margin of victory predictions very close.
Against UTEP, the Huskers won 40-7, nearly matching the forecast of 42-14. In the Colorado game, I had predicted a 35-24 score, but the actual result was 28-10. Nebraska controlled the game, but Nebraska Defense proved more stout than expected. The final non-conference matchup against Northern Iowa saw a 34-3 victory, just short of the 42-10 prediction but again, with a defense that exceeded expectations.
Looking Forward: Nebraska’s Next Three Games
- Illinois: Nebraska’s defense will be the key once again. Illinois poses some challenges, but Nebraska will emerge with a 30-17 victory, winning by 13 points.
- Rutgers: This game should go in Nebraska’s favor without much trouble. I’m predicting a 34-10 win, with the Huskers continuing their defensive dominance.
- Purdue: Purdue will test Nebraska, but the Huskers will step up, winning decisively with a 38-14 score, extending their streak and keeping momentum strong.
Nebraska is slightly behind on scoring, but so are their opponents, keeping the margins consistent with my predictions. The Huskers remain firmly on track for a standout season, especially as they gear up for Big Ten play.
