Maryland Postgame Press Conference
What an exciting finish to what seemed like a game that was about to get out of hand for Nebraska. Husker fans can now relax, Raiola and the offense were able to put together a great drive at the end and the defense held a very good QB out of scoring range to end the game and the Huskers are now 5-1. This was a game that at times was incredibly sloppy, but the Huskers had what it took to get the job done. After the game Husker Head Coach Matt Rhule held his usual press conference, here is a rundown of what he had to say:
– Rhule opened up the press conference by giving credit to Maryland and their coaching staff, also to let the media be aware that the hats that are floating around are not being sold by him
– Rhule thinks that Malik Washington is going to be dynamic in the future
– The Huskers 3 turnovers led to 17 points for Maryland
– Kenneth Williams now has a scholarship
– Normally Rhule wants his teams to get into the locker room after games but told them to go back out and acknowledge the Husker fanbase that travelled
– Credit given to the Husker fanbase for showing up big at Maryland
– The Huskers went from talking about bowl droughts to pulling off close game wins
– Coming out of the MSU game the coaches looked at the numbers and realized they were running the ball well and that played a factor in the game today
– On Emmet Johnson’s 50 yard run the head coach was screaming at the refs for something and did not realize he was still running
– Rhule said that Raoila was a little banged up and made his mistakes, but acknowledged that he is a great competitor and made the plays needed to win the game
– The throw to Key at the end was a perfect throw
– This was the first game winning drive on offense under the Rhule era at Nebraska
– When asked about the game winning drive Rhule said that we were in that position when we did not have to be, with that being said the Huskers scored 10 points in the final 6 minutes
– The team was not panicked on the sidelines today
– The team is simply better this year than they were during Rhule’s first season
– Pritchett rolled his ankle at the end of the game and Corchran filled in and played well
– The Huskers will do the exact same game week in preparation for Minnesota
– Minnesota is a tough team that Nebraska hasn’t beaten in a long time
– This Friday’s game against Minnesota will be a breast cancer game
– It was good to see guys like Haarberg and Lindenmeyer making the plays that they did
– It is the mindset of Holgorsen to put the ball out there and let the players make plays
Rhule spoke for around 13 minutes after today’s game and appears ready to get to prep for Minnesota. Nebraska has now won two one score games this year in very highly contested games against some good teams, the team looks to take this momentum into Minnesota on Friday next week.
