MSU Post Game Press Conference With Coach Rhule
Husker fans rejoice, the Huskers are now 4-1 and just pulled off a win when it looked like that wasn’t going to happen. Seems like this is the kind of game previous years teams find a way to lose, but this team found a way to win by double digits. The defense played well against the run and the special teams was impressive. After the game Husker head coach Matt Rhule held his usual press conference, here is a rundown of what he had to say:
– Rhule gave credit to MSU and their QB
– Nebraska held the Spartans to under 100 yards rushing
– Rhule had planned to have to win the game in the 4th with a field goal
– Not the prettiest game but we got the win
– Rhule asked if Penn State lost to UCLA, then emphasized just how difficult it is to play in the B1G
– Rhule called the fake punt that didn’t work, noting that it was the right call by giving the ball to the hands of our playmakers
– Special temas played a big factor in the game today, credit to Jamir Conn
– This game felt like the UCLA game from last year and the team went after it
– Rhule felt it was unique that Nebraska went a long time before they could play with the wind at their backs due to how the game played out
– Rhule gave credit to Lindenmeyer for making a big block on the wheel route to Jacory Barney that woke our offense up in the 3rd quarter
– At the end of the day if you put the ball in Raiola and Barneys hands good things are going to happen
– The defense did a good job getting to the QB today
– The defensive focus this week was to stop the run, no big plays to #1 and #6, and tackle #2
– Though we got to the QB well today, Rhule felt we didn’t tackle the QB enough today
– Rhule said they are not trying to prove anything to anybody. He understands that its part of the game that fans will boo. He noted that they need to play well if the players are tired of being boo’d
– There are a ton of things the Huskers need to get better at
– The team shows up every week ready to battle
– John Butler was awesome today, noting that he was fired up
– Rhule wants to watch the film before he comments on the O Line play
– The Huskers needed Pritchett’s size and strength today
– The third quarter interception reminded Rhule of last years UCLA game
– Coach wants a fired up Raiola, noting that it is the best version of the QB
– DeShon Signleton had a great game and coach said that he is so proud of him. Noting that its great to see good people do good things
– It doesn’t come down to making great calls, its all about great players making great plays
– Coach is happy for Carter Nelson scoring his TD on special teams
– Jamir Conn’s punt block was a special moment for the team
Rhule spoke for around 12 minutes post game, and he seemed very rushed with his answers tonight. Undoubtedly the Huskers will be back hard at work this week to prepare for the upcoming game against Maryland.
Go Big Red
