Nebraska football unexpectedly struck gold yesterday when they picked up their ninth commitment in the 2027 class. Jordan Agbanoma announced on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show he was committing to the University of Nebraska. Agbanoma’s commitment is a big coup for offensive line coach Geep Wade and Matt Rhule as they continue to add to a recruiting class that is ranked 15th by Rivals On3.
A 6’3”, 315-pounds, Agbanoma is a 4-Star out of Loganville, Georgia. Ranked as the number 7 interior linemen nationally, number 10 overall in Georgia, and the number 83 player nationally, he becomes Nebraska’s fourth blue-chip addition for 2027. He joins quarterback Trae Taylor, safety Tory Pittman and running back Ahmir Brown at the top of Nebraska’s class. He has been described as having impressive agility, a violent first two steps and is devastating as a run blocker. Nebraska beat out Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, and Miami for Agbanoma’s services. His official visit is currently scheduled for June 5th, however it wouldn’t be surprising to see him change that to June 19th when most Nebraska’s commits are visiting.
It’ll be interesting to see if Agbanoma’s commitment gets the wheels rolling in Georgia. The Huskers have targeted five other players in the talent rich state, including three of Agbanoma’s teammates, KD Jones, Olafemi Hunter, and Waylon Wooten.
KD Jones is a 6’4”, 270-pound 3-Star IOL who is ranked 814 nationally overall, number 66 at his position and 85th in the state of Georgia. Jones has received offers from Georgia Tech, Auburn, Georgia, and South Carolina. He is scheduled to take his official visit to Nebraska on June 5th. The Huskers see him possibly playing center. As of now several analysts forecast Jones committing to the Huskers.
The second Loganville player is Olafemi “Joey” Hunter a 6’5”, 255-pound tight end. Hunter is ranked number 1,072 nationally, number 54 at his position, and 114 in Georgia. However, look for those numbers to get better as schools like Nebraska have started to notice him and make offers. Other than Nebraska he currently holds offers from Georgia Tech, Syracuse, NC State, Pittsburgh, and West Virgina. Hunter is the top tight end on Nebraska’s board and is working on securing a visit from Hunter while continuing to recruit Ahmad Hudson.
Waylon Wooten is a 6’1”, 315-pound 3-Star DL who is ranked 969 nationally, number 64 at his position, and number 104 in Georgia. Nebraska has got Wooten on campus for an early visit but has yet to nail him down for an official visit. He has received offers from Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Ohio State. Ohio State is the current favorite to sign him. While Nebraska is still in contact, Wooten is considered a longshot.
Timi Aliu is a 6’4”,295-pound 4-Star OT from Locust Grove, Georgia, Aliu is ranked 261st nationally, number 20 at his position, and number 25 in Georgia. He has offers from Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, and Illinois. Nebraska is seen as the front runner as of now and Aliu will take his official visit to Lincoln on June 19th.
The fifth player from Georgia the Huskers are pursuing is safety Kennedy Green. The 6’1”, 200-pound 4-Star is ranked 264th nationally, number 24 at his position, and number 26 in the state of Georgia. He has received offers from South Carolina, Miami, USC, and Ole Miss. As of now, South Carolina appears to be the team to beat.
Nebraska has multiple official visits planned for the month of June with 11 visitors scheduled for June 5th, 10 on June 12th, and 11 on June 19th. Of those, four just became official this week. They are as follows:
Matthew Brady, a 6’4”, 215-pound 3-Star Linebacker from Bloomington IL. Ranked 1,087 nationally, number 103 at his position, and number 39 in Illinois. Nebraska was one of his first Power Four offers, however, since Nebraska offered so has Michigan State, Minnesota, and Illinois. Like Maurice Purify II, Brady jumped on to Nebraska’s radar with his performance during track season.
Ma’atoe Moe, a 6’4”, 217-pound 3-Star Edge from Orem UT. Ranked 1,057 nationally, number 89 at his position, and number 16 in Utah. This is a three-team battle between Nebraska, Minnesota and UNLV with no clear favorite at this point.
James Johnson, a 6’3”,190-pound 3-Star Safety from Belleville, IL. Ranked 910 nationally, number 98 at his position, and number 33 in Illinois. Jones is seen as an athlete who could play on either side of the ball. As of now Nebraska sees him as hybrid between a linebacker and a safety. He has offers from Cincinnati, West Virgina, and Utah.
Grayson, Kazmouz, a 6’5”, 210-pound 3-Star Edge from Laguna Beach, CA. Ranked 1,333 nationally, number 118 at his position, and number 146 in California. He has offers from San Diego State, Boise State, Fresno State, and Wyoming.
Look for the Huskers to lock down more official visits in the next couple of weeks. Of the current 32 officials, 9 are already committed to the Huskers. Here are six additional names to watch closely.
Errol Demontagnac, 6’3”, 270-pound 3-Star DL from Seffner, FL. Ranked 920 nationally, number 88 at his position, and number 101 in Florida.
Kobe Rhymes, 6’1”, 225-pound 3-Star linebacker from Kansas City, MO. Ranked 446 nationally, number 37 at his position, and number 7 in Missouri.
Jailen Hill, 6’3”, 160-pound 4-Star cornerback from Bellflower, CA. Ranked 273 nationally, number 32 at his position, and number 26 in California.
Bryce Williams, 6’2”, 175-pound 4-Star cornerback from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Ranked 318 nationally, number 37 at his position, and number 30 in Florida.
Kyler Kuhn, 6’3”, 280-pound 4-Star IOL from Kansas City, MO. Ranked 198 nationally, number 12 at his position, and number 3 in Missouri.
Matthew Gregory, 6’0”, 170-pound 4-Star wide receiver from Pottstown, PA. Ranked 97 nationally, number 18 at his position, and number 6 in Pennsylvania.
June is a big month for Nebraska. As I mentioned earlier, most of Nebraska’s commits will visit on the 19th. The reasoning, on the 20th Nebraska is hosting the ‘Battle of the Boneyard’ Adidas’s 7-on-7 tournament, in which 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor will be participating. It’s a good time for recruits to come together and experience Nebraska.
Getting players to commit is just the first step. After that keeping guys committed and having a season that they can be excited about is a must before the early signing period in December.
GO BIG RED!! SIMPLE, FAST, VIOLENT!!
