Not a single Husker fan is unaware of the fact that this is Matt Rhule’s year three at Nebraska. Rhule himself has been reminding the fan base of his success in year three since his arrival, and expectations are for the Huskers to be an 8-to-10-win team this season. Well, the time has arrived as the much-anticipated year three of the Matt Rhule era will begin in Las Vegas next month.
The 2025 Big Ten Football Media Days will be July 22-24. All 18 teams will be represented by three players and their head coach at the event. However, never one to shy away from setting the tone and trying new things, Rhule is taking a fourth player as well this year.
Rhule will be joined by offensive lineman Henry Lutovsky, quarterback Dylan Raiola, safety Deshon Singleton and safety Marques Buford Jr.
Lutovsky, Raiola, and Singlton will be interviewed and take questions, while Buford will act as a correspondent. Think side-line reporter, a commentator doing his own interviews and asking questions. This isn’t something totally new, but it is unique to Nebraska, and I personally look forward to seeing Buford in action.
Henry Lutovsky is one of the veterans on Nebraska’s offensive line and started eleven games last season. In all he has played 38 games and saw action in every game of the 2022 and 2023 season. One of five returning starters Lutovsky will play a large role on this year’s offensive line and his taking part in media days speaks to that.
DeShon Singleton started all 13 games last season at safety. He was second on the team in tackles last season with 71. 45 of those were solo stops. Singleton has played in 30 games and started 18 while at Nebraska. This season it’s anticipated that he’ll play in the rover spot, a position that has been the leading tackler on the team the last two seasons.
Dylan Raiola started all 13 games as a true freshman and set several freshman records. School records included the first freshman to lead Nebraska to a bowl win, yards thrown in a season with 2,819 and completion percentage, 67.3%. His completion percentage led all freshmen in the nation, and he was third in yardage thrown. Raiola’s attendance at media days as a sophomore isn’t the norm as it’s usually seniors who participate. But his inclusion is due to his position, as he’s seen as the face of the team and perhaps its biggest leader.
Marques Buford Jr. started 12 games last season making five starts at safety and seven at cornerback. In his career at Nebraska, he has 113 tackles, 72 solos, 43 assists, 1 sack and 3 interceptions. Buford was one of ten players who were voted by the team to wear a single digit number last season. It’s anticipated Buford will play safety this season.
The B1G network will broadcast six consecutive hours of live coverage each day starting at 12 p.m. CDT. They will cover the day’s press conferences and interview all 72 participants over the three-day period. The schedule is as follows:
