Nebraska football has secured a significant addition to its 2027 recruiting class, landing four-star offensive tackle Timi Aliu from Locust Grove High School in Locust Grove, Georgia. The commitment was announced on Monday, bolstering the Cornhuskers’ efforts to rebuild their offensive line under head coach Matt Rhule and offensive line coach Geep Wade.
Aliu chose Nebraska over a strong list of suitors, including power programs like Georgia, Florida, Clemson, Illinois, and Syracuse. Standing at approximately 6-foot-5 and weighing around 300 pounds, the Georgia native brings NFL size and B1G athleticism to the tackle position.
Aliu’s commitment didn’t come out of nowhere. Nebraska pursued him aggressively and consistently over the final six months of his recruitment, with multiple visits to Lincoln playing a pivotal role. The Huskers hosted him four times before he pulled the trigger, and he is still scheduled to make his official visit in June. In his own words, Aliu highlighted the personal touch from the Nebraska staff: “They just kept making sure I got backup to Lincoln to hang with the guys, hang with the players and recruits.” “Nebraska just showed me so much love.” and
“They (Nebraska coaches) always wanted me there. The connections and the relationships made me ready to pull the trigger.”
Aliu becomes the fourth offensive lineman to commit to Nebraska’s 2027 class, giving the Huskers a strong foundation up front early in the cycle. The group now includes:
- Jordan Agbanoma (interior offensive lineman, Loganville, Ga., Grayson)
- KD Jones (interior offensive lineman, Loganville, Ga., Grayson)
- Matt Erickson (offensive lineman, Omaha, Neb., Millard North)
Notably, two of those prior commits, Agbanoma and Jones, also hail from Georgia, signaling Nebraska’s growing footprint in one of the nation’s top talent hotbeds. The recent run of offensive line pledges from the Peach State shows the impact of new offensive line coach Geep Wade, who joined the staff in December and has quickly made his mark on the recruiting trail.
Landing a four-star tackle like Aliu this early in the 2027 cycle is a major win for a program that has emphasized rebuilding the trenches. The offensive line has been made a priority under Rhule this offseason, and with Aliu in the fold, Nebraska now has momentum heading into a busy June official visit period. The Huskers are set to host several other top offensive line targets, including five-star interior lineman Albert Simien and four-star guard Kyler Kuhn, among others.
For a program hungry to return to national prominence, every four-star trench commit counts. Husker fans have plenty to be excited about as the 2027 class continues to take shape. With Aliu now locked in and more visits on the horizon, Nebraska’s offensive line under Geep Wade is looking to return to the “pipeline” sooner rather than later.
