Wide Receiver Jaylen Lloyd, Nebraska native, entered the transfer portal earlier this week after the Huskers bowl game win against Boston College. It’s always unfortunate to lose a guy that the program had high hopes for, but it stings just a little more when it’s a hometown kid. The departure, like Malachi Coleman a few weeks back, is a bit of a shocker given the current situation at Nebraska.
The Huskers are trending upwards. With a reformed offense under the guidance of Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen, and Dylan Raiola, a 5-Star Quarterback coming off a record breaking freshman campaign, the stars seem to be aligning for the Nebraska offense. There are undoubtedly conversations that go on behind closed doors and situations that the fans and media aren’t exactly aware of, but Lincoln seems to be a pretty coveted destination for young receivers.
Kentucky Wide Receiver, Freshman Hardley Gilmore, must have seen that upside.
It was reported yesterday that Gimore, the former 4-Star and IMG Academy prospect, has chosen Nebraska as his new home. Gilmore follows Wide Receiver Coach Daikiel Shorts and teammate Dane Key to Lincoln from the Wildcats.
Gilmore reclassified from the class of 2025 to the class of 2024 and initially chose Kentucky over the likes of Alabama, Michigan, Georgia and Penn State. Sidelined by a collarbone injury at the beginning of last year, Gilmore’s season began at the midway point, catching 6 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown in his 7 appearances. Gimore will come to Lincoln with three years of eligibility remaining.
You win some and you lose some, but the addition of Gilmore is definitely a big win for the Huskers.
