Nebraska capped off an impeccable weekend in Michigan with a commanding 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 sweep over the Wolverines on Sunday at the Crisler Center. This victory extended Nebraska’s sweep streak, marking their ninth straight sweep and a remarkable streak of 28 consecutive sets won—the longest since 2010. Undefeated at 18-0 overall and a perfect 8-0 in Big Ten play, the Huskers have now won all 24 of their conference sets this season, dropping Michigan to 12-7 overall and 2-6 in league action.
The match shattered records, drawing a staggering 12,707 fans, the first sellout in Crisler Center history and eclipsing Michigan’s previous volleyball attendance mark of 8,137 from 2017. Nebraska’s statistical mastery was on full display, as they hit .390 as a team while restricting the Wolverines to a mere .079 efficiency. Outpacing their hosts in kills (40-32), digs (36-26), and blocks (13-6), the Huskers extended their run of sub-.300 opponent hitting percentages to nine matches. Harper Murray, playing in her hometown of Ann Arbor, led the charge with nine kills, including a pivotal 7-0 serving run in the first set that swung momentum decisively. Andi Jackson shone with eight kills on .800 efficiency and six blocks, while Taylor Landfair and Virginia Adriano each added seven kills and three blocks apiece.
From the outset, Nebraska dictated the pace. In the opener, they erased an early 5-2 deficit with a 7-0 surge fueled by Murray’s kills and a Mauch ace, pulling away to a 23-14 lead before sealing it on a block. Set two was even more lopsided, as setter Bergen Reilly ignited a 7-0 run of her own, propelling the Huskers to a 15-7 advantage in route to a .400 hitting clinic. The third set saw Michigan claw back from an 11-6 hole, but Nebraska regrouped with Adriano’s solo block and Jackson’s timely kills to rebuild a six-point cushion and close out the sweep on a flurry of efficient attacks. This flawless performance not only highlighted the team’s depth but also contributed to the 19th arena attendance record broken involving the Huskers since Volleyball Day in Nebraska in 2023.
As they head home, the Huskers gear up for more Big Ten play, including the annual Pink Match against Northwestern on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by Michigan State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. With their undefeated streak intact, Nebraska continues to embody dynasty-level dominance, leaving little doubt about their status as the nation’s premier program.
