The University of Nebraska volleyball program announced Thursday that Jaylen Reyes has been promoted to associate head coach, a move that reflects his longstanding contributions to one of the nation’s most successful teams.
Reyes, who joined the Huskers as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in 2018, has been a key figure in the program’s sustained excellence over the past eight seasons. During his tenure, Nebraska has consistently ranked among the top 10 nationally in team defense on seven occasions, made three appearances in the NCAA Championship match, captured three consecutive Big Ten titles, and achieved the program’s first unbeaten Big Ten regular season since 2004.
Under Reyes’ guidance as recruiting coordinator, the Huskers have secured multiple No. 1 recruiting classes, helping to maintain the program’s elite status. His work has also contributed to landmark achievements, including the 2025 unbeaten regular season and a school-record team hitting percentage.
Head coach Dani Busboom Kelly praised Reyes’ impact and work ethic in the announcement. “After working with Jaylen for a year, it was a no-brainer to promote him to associate head coach,” Busboom Kelly said. “Jaylen has been integral to the success of this program for the past eight years. His work ethic and passion are hard to match, and we are so grateful to have him in our program.”
Reyes expressed appreciation for the opportunity and the support he has received in Lincoln. “I am so grateful to Dani for giving me the opportunity,” Reyes said. “The state of Nebraska and Husker fans have been so good to me over the last eight years. I love it here and am thankful for all the support. Go Big Red!”
