As the Huskers left the field in New York city, they left looking fairly dominant against a Boston College team that gave SMU a run for their money late in the season. The standout moment of the Pinstripe Bowl was foreshadowing of the future to come. Raiola’s run and slide on the game’s final drive, drawing a late hit from a Boston College defensive back, gave the Huskers the fuel they needed to close out the game and get the win. As Raiola popped up and got into the face of the would-be defender, you could almost feel the state erupt in enthusiasm. It’s not often that offensive linemen have to hold back their quarterback, but when multiple linemen had to surround Raiola and keep him in the right mindset you could tell that this bowl truly meant something.
Johnson and Johnson teamed up to develop a strong run game allowing the offense to play a very balanced game. The third quarter was summed up best by the games announcers in stating “it seems like Nebraska is just playing with their food and not eating it”, allowing Boston College to claw back into the game. After a couple of special teams falters and Nebraska losing their fire on offense, Boston College pulled within five points. As Nebraska took over on the last drive of the game Rhamir Johnson finished off the drive with a tough run on third down, allowing the Huskers to line up in victory formation.
The Blackshirts did not look to be missing any pieces, even with the transfers. The starters today filled in beautifully as Nebraska was outstanding on defense. This was a game that gave Husker nation plenty of hope for the 2025 season. What a way to send off the seniors, and what a beautiful moment watching the players celebrate after winning the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl capping the Huskers first winning season in almost a decade.
