The University of Nebraska Cornhuskers are officially bowl eligible. As the fans stormed the field following a 7 year bowl drought. The fans deserved this one. The team deserves this one and Husker Nation deserves this one.
The offense scored 44 points, the highest point total this season. Dylan Raiola led the way with 28 completions for 293 yards and a touchdown. The Holgerson experiment seems to be planning out in week 3. Spreading the ball around to 8 different receivers and 5 running backs getting carries. As the game drove on, the running game gained steam with Emmett Johnson having an outstanding game with 113 yards on 16 carries. The offensive line was bullying the Wisconsin defensive line today up and down the field.
Emmett Johnson didn’t only lead the team in rushing but also tied for first in receiving yards with 85 yards on 6 receptions. Nate Boerkircher really stepped up tonight with a great game blocking and receiving. Barney, Banks and Neyor all also had multiple receptions today.
The defense was stout but not outstanding. Holding Wisconsin to 115 total rushing yards, denying Wisconsin the ability to find rhythm. The Blackshirts gave up some big plays but did enough to five the offense plenty of opportunities. The Blackshirts continued play that is on par for the season so far. The defensive line played well, linebackers played well and the defensive backfield is getting their sea legs still seemingly.
The Huskers will be bowl eligible for the first time in 7 years and that is something all of Husker Nation is excited for. With Iowa in the sights for next week in Iowa City, the Huskers offense was impressive and played complimentary football. Can Nebraska get to 7 wins on black friday?
