Nebraska vs Michigan has been circled on a lot of Husker fans calendars for a long time, now the Huskers finally get their shot at knocking down a top 25 program.
Nebraska enters 3-0, while Michigan has to go on the road to Oklahoma in week 2, so there is no doubt that they will be tested and will be ready.
This feels like a game that the AP voters will make a Top 25 matchup, two big brands, both ranked, playing on National Television.
Game 4: 3-0 Vs Michigan:
On a day where Nebraska is honoring the 1995 National Championship team, it’s only fitting that the blackshirt defense stamps its impact in this one.
With the Wolverines not having their head coach Sherrone Moore due to a self imposed suspension (Sign Stealing Scandal), it could be a tough outing for true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood.
Michigan is going to bring in one of the strongest defensive units in the country, a defense that has a lot of experience behind them in big games, just like when they beat Ohio State and Alabama to finish off their 2024 season.
I feel good about what Nebraska can accomplish offensively in the run game, our offense line is built for it and so are our tight ends.
I don’t expect either opponent to score more than 24 points in this game, it feels like it will be a tight defensive battle.
It’s been a long time since the Huskers have beaten a top 25 team, since 2016 to be exact, but at home in front of a rowdy crowd that has been waiting for some big momentum? The Huskers deliver.
Nebraska: 24 Michigan: 21
Game 5: 4-0 vs Michigan State:
Nebraska football all of a sudden, feels like their back in the center of the college football world after a big top 25 upset of Michigan, but their journey is only beginning.
Coming off a bye week, the Huskers are set to host the Michigan State Spartans, led by head coach Jonathan Smith and junior quarterback Aidan Chiles.
This game will have many self made headlines from Husker fans, one of the biggest being the fact that Nebraska has a record of 2-7 in games after a bye week since 2019, with coach Matt Rhule having one of those two wins.
It almost feels like Michigan State is being undervalued by almost everyone in the media, but they are a very solid team.
The Spartans are going to be a potential problem for the Huskers secondary in this one, sophomore receiver Nick Marsh broke out as a true freshman in 2024 and they pair him with two transfers in Omari Kelly and Chrishon McCray that will give Chiles and that offense three legit wide receivers that can make plays.
Once again, I think this one is going to come down to the blackshirt defense making big stops on crucial downs, while giving the ball back to the offense to wear down the front seven of the Spartans.
Nebraska: 27 Michigan State: 21
Game 6: 5-0 at Maryland:
After taking down the Spartans, Nebraska hits the road for the first of two road games in six days, traveling to Secu Stadium in College Park to take on the Maryland Terrapins.
After a 4-8 campaign in 2024, head coach Mike Locksley returns to the Terrapins, with a heavily depleted roster, losing quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. and running back Roman Hemby to the transfer portal.
Nebraska should expect to win this game, they are far and away the more talented team.
I think we will see the offense breakout in this one, Dylan Raiola will be slinging the ball everywhere in the first half and the Huskers will close this one out in the fourth quarter.
Nebraska: 35 Maryland: 17
The Huskers are now 6-0 for the first time since 2016, gaining bowl eligibility for the second straight season after a long drought.
Up next for the Huskers is a showdown under the lights on a Friday night in Minneapolis, a place where Nebraska has struggled in recent years.
