Nebraska and head coach Matt Rhule have had one of the more talked about offseasons among college football in the country.
Whether it’s about a potential sophomore year splurge from quarterback Dylan Raiola, the ever so famous “Year 3” for coach Rhule, or the mass amount of talent on the Huskers roster, Nebraska has been the talk of the media for some time now.
Their schedule is set up nicely for Nebraska and today I will be breaking down and predicting the Huskers entire 2025 schedule, with game by game analysis and score predictions.
This should and will be eye opening to most husker fans, but I’m anticipating a massive jump for Nebraska in 2025, so let’s get into it.
Game 1: Vs Cincinnati (Arrowhead Stadium)
What an opportunity the Huskers have in their season opener, playing under the lights at a neutral site where most of the nation will be tuned in.
Coming off a 4-8 campaign in 2024, Scott Satterfield brought in a ton of names via the transfer portal this offseason, but the biggest name on their roster is returning quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who threw for 2,813 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 2024.
Sorsby also ran for 447 yards and 9 touchdowns and we all know that the Huskers have had a hard time playing against dual threat quarterbacks that aren’t afraid to take off and run when the coverage tightens up.
I think the Huskers will come out firing right out of the gates, eventually leaning on the run game to wear out the Bearcats defense.
Nebraska: 28 Cincinnati: 17
Game 2: 1-0 Vs Akron:
The Huskers will be welcomed with open arms back to Memorial Stadium for their home opener against the Akron Zips, led by head coach Joe Moorhead.
This is the first of back to back tune up games for the Huskers, obviously you can’t overlook any opponent, but it is nice to not have to play a power four opponent for two weeks before Michigan.
Akron is projected to come into this game behind transfer quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. and a pair of transfer running backs in Jordan Gant and Taven Curry.
Dylan Raiola, solid defense and a strong running game should have the fans anxious for the fourth quarter light show rather than the remainder of the third quarter.
Nebraska: 41 Akron: 14
Game 3: 2-0 Vs Houston Christian:
Nebraska walks into their final non conference game with a 2-0 record, in front of another sold out crowd as Nebraska takes on Houston Christian, led by head coach Jason Bachtel.
The Huskies play in the Southland Conference, where they finished 2024 with a 5-7 record and are currently in a quarterback battle with a pair of transfers in Diego Tello and Maddox Kopp.
I don’t know much about the Huskies and have no idea what to expect then they take on the Huskers, but I do know that Nebraska should have this one wrapped up by halftime.
Nebraska: 45 Houston Christian: 10
Nebraska finishes their non conference slate with a 3-0 record, but this is just the beginning.
Starting September 20th, the Huskers will play the remainder of their schedule against Big Ten opponents, opening up conference play at home in what is an already highly anticipated matchup with the Michigan Wolverines.
