As recruiting is heating up, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are making significant waves, particularly with their 2027 class. At the forefront of this momentum is quarterback commit Trae Taylor, the program’s highest rated commit since Dylan Raiola, who’s looking to take a huge step forward in 2025.
Taylor, ranked as the nation’s No. 11 prospect by Rivals, has taken an assertive approach to building Nebraska’s future roster. His recent social media campaign, encouraging top prospects to “give Nebraska a look” because “looking never hurt anyone,” demonstrates the kind of leadership that has been absent in Nebraska’s recruiting circles for years.
The young quarterback’s efforts are already bearing fruit. He’s actively targeting elite 2027 prospects, including Antayvious Ellis, Jamier Brown, and Ahmad Hudson. Most notably, Taylor was recently spotted with Brown, the nation’s third-ranked player and current Ohio State commit, whose sophomore campaign included over 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Huskers’ recruiting efforts extend beyond Taylor’s peer recruitment. The program recently offered Kaden Henderson, a composite five-star linebacker from Tampa, Florida. Henderson, ranked No. 16 overall in the 2027 class, brings impressive credentials with 92 tackles and four forced fumbles in his sophomore season.
In the more immediate future, Nebraska continues to build momentum with the 2026 class, securing a commitment from in-state talent Jase Reynolds, a 6-foot-3 outside linebacker from Elkhorn North. Reynolds, who chose the Huskers over offers from Kansas State and Northwestern, among others, represents the program’s commitment to keeping top local talent at home.
The program is also making inroads with elite offensive line talent, as evidenced by the scheduled visit of four-star interior offensive lineman Tristan Dare. The Texas native’s upcoming April 26 visit underscores Matt Rhule’s continued emphasis on recruiting the Lone Star State.
In the defensive secondary, four-star safety Semaj Stanford’s repeated visits to Lincoln, marking his fourth trip to campus, suggest growing interest from the Oklahoma native ranked as the 141st overall player in the 2027 class.
The Huskers’ 2027 class currently ranks ninth overall according to 247Sports Team Rankings, a promising position this early in the cycle. With Taylor’s active recruitment efforts and the coaching staff’s strategic focus on key regions like Texas, Georgia, and Florida, Nebraska appears poised to assemble one of its strongest recruiting classes in recent memory.
As spring visits continue and summer approaches, when coaches can begin directly contacting 2027 prospects, the true impact of Nebraska’s recruiting strategy will become clearer. But one thing is certain and that is that with Taylor and Raiola leading the charge and the coaching staff’s concentrated efforts across the country, the future of Husker football is trending in an exciting direction.
