Nebraska added their seventh commitment to the 2027 class Friday when wide receiver Kaden Howard announced he would join the Huskers. The 5’10”, 160-pound 3-Star comes from Palmetto High School in Miami, the same school as current Husker Jacory Barney. Howard had offers from Minnesota, Louisville, Missouri and generated interest from West Virgina, Pittsburgh and Mississippi State as well. Howard is scheduled to take his official visit to Lincoln on June 12.
While listed as an Athlete due to his versatility, Nebraska considers him a slot receiver and will use him much like they do Barney, including special teams. Howard has the same explosiveness as Barney and has the potential to be both a threat as a receiver and runner. Considered faster than Barney, Howard ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at a recent Rivals Camp in Miami. He also posted a 4.33 pro agility run and set a personal best 21.39/200-meter dash in late February. He logged 23 receptions for 520 yards and 7 touchdowns in his junior season.
Howard joins wide receiver Tay Ellis in the 2027 class and is the fourth consecutive Florida wide receiver in as many years. Nebraska added Barney in the 2024 class, Cortez Mills in 2025, and Larry Miles in 2026. It’s a positive trend for Rhule and staff and one I’m sure they would like to continue.
Nebraska will look to add at least one more wide receiver to the class if not two. Names to be aware of are 4-Star Khalil Taylor, 5’11, 180-pounds. 4-Star Quentin Burrell, 6’2”, 195-pounds. 4-Star Charles Davis, 6’5”, 190-pounds and 3-Star Isaiah Alverez, 6’0”, 175-pounds.
Another name to watch is 4-Star Corey Hadley, 6’1”, 180-pounds. Nebraska originally recruited Hadley as a Safety but is starting to see him as a possible wide receiver due to depth at Safety. Hadley has already made four visits to Nebraska and plans on scheduling an official visit this summer. On3 lists his chances of joining the Huskers at 94%.
When talking wide receivers, it should also be noted that while Nebraska is targeting all-world TE Ahmad Hudson, the 6’5” Charles Davis could be looked at as a possible tight end as well. He has the frame to build on if that’s the direction Davis and the Huskers plan to go.
Several recruits have stated their intention to announce their commitments over the next three months. One of the next players who could commit to the Huskers is 3-Star IOL Barrett Kittrell. The 6’4”, 270-pound Kittrell has scheduled multiple visits to Lincoln over the next week. From Ashland-Greenwood, he’s a legacy, as both his brother and father were former Huskers. On3 listed Kittrell at 99% chance of joining the Huskers.
Also listed at 97% chance of becoming a Husker is cornerback Bryce Williams. The 6’2” 175-pound 4-Star decommitted from Florida State in December. Since then, coach Addison Willimas has made him a priority. Willimas visited Nebraska twice in 2025 and is scheduled for an official visit June 5. There’s also a possibility he will visit for the Red-white Spring game. Nebraska will battle Texas, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn, and Florida State for Willimas’s services.
And finally, Tim Vergese of Inside Nebraska recently put in a prediction for 4-Star IOL Timi Aliu to commit to Nebraska. The 6’4”, 295-pound lineman out of Locust Grove, Georgia has locked in an official visit for June19. Having already made three visits to Lincoln, Aliu has developed a close relationship with offensive line coach Geep Wade. Aliu’s first power-four offer came from Wade when he was at Georgia Tech. The two have stayed in touch and Aliu has been sold on Wade’s teaching skills and Nebraska’s facilities. Aliu has set four official visits besides Nebraska, scheduling Illinois, Syracuse, Florida, and Georgia. He plans on announcing his commitment on July 3.
Nebraska has done a good job of recruiting for 2027 however I’m watching the running back position. Initially Nebraska perused both Xavier Bala and Kylonn Jones. Bala, a 5’11, 200-pound 4-Star is from Baldwin, NY and Jones, a 5’10”, 205-pound 3-Star is from Omaha, NE. Both were the front runners to join commit Amir Brown, a 5’11”, 200-pound 4-Star. On3 has Bala at 94% and Jones at 99% of joining the Huskers. But things have good quiet, and neither player is scheduled to visit or has set an official visit as of now. Will we continue to ask what’s going on at the running back position?
GO BIG RED!! SIMPLE, FAST, VIOLENT!!
