Our Nebraska Cornhuskers are packing their bags and helmets for Sin City. The Huskers have been selected to compete in the 2025 SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, marking their second straight bowl appearance under head coach Matt Rhule.
Nebraska will face off against the Utah Utes on Wednesday, December 31, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT (12:30 p.m. PT), with ESPN providing nationwide coverage. This matchup not only brings the Huskers to a billion-dollar new venue, but it will be the teams’ first meeting since 1992, when Nebraska last dominated Utah in Lincoln.
The Huskers boast a perfect 4-0 record against the Utes, with all prior clashes occurring at Memorial Stadium between 1968 and 1992. Utah, however, enters as a heavy favorite, fresh off another strong season in one of college football’s most consistent programs. For Nebraska, this bowl marks their 55th postseason invitation and a first-ever trip to the Las Vegas Bowl, capping a campaign of steady progress.
“The Las Vegas Bowl gives our football team the opportunity to visit a great city and compete in one of the nation’s best venues against an elite opponent,” Rhule said. “The University of Utah has been one of the top programs in the country over the past two decades… I know our players are eager to play a 13th game and have a memorable bowl experience.”
Excitement extends from the field to the front office. Nebraska Director of Athletics Troy Dannen emphasized the fan support that’s fueled the team’s coast-to-coast travels this season, from a season-opening win over Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium to a November triumph at the Rose Bowl against UCLA. “Our University, our players, coaches, staff and fans are eager to embrace Las Vegas as we close out 2025,” Dannen added. University President Dr. Jeffrey Gold echoed the optimism, calling the bid “more proof of growing strength of this program under Coach Rhule, the culture he is creating, and the momentum we can look forward to in the future.”
