Christmas is right around the corner, and that means shopping season is in full force. If you’re not on top of your list, you might just be out of luck. The shelves empty quick. When it’s gone, it’s gone. The transfer portal is no different.
There will be several spots on the roster that Matt Rhule needs filled, and the Wide Receiver position is one of them. The Huskers will lose Seniors Isaiah Neyor and Jahmal Banks after the bowl game, and Malachi Coleman, a promising hometown standout, is already in the portal. Luckily, the receivers are not out of stock just yet.
Eric Rivers, a 3rd Team All-American out of Florida International University, just wrapped up a visit to Lincoln. Hopes are high that Rhule and his staff can secure a commitment from one of the most highly coveted receivers currently in the portal. Rivers racked up 1,172 yards and 12 touchdowns for FIU this past season and is in search of a new home for his final season of college football.
“My biggest thing is just finding a scheme that fits me well as a player because I only have one year left of eligibility. So for me my biggest thing is making sure this last year of college football, I have to make the best of it and put myself in a position where I can be successful as a whole, as an offense,” Rivers said.
With Dana Holgorsen leading the offense and Dylan Raiola distributing the ball, you’d think that’d be a fairly strong selling point to a receiver of Rivers’ caliber. If that’s not enough incentive for the talented receiver, maybe a trip to Arrowhead Stadium for Nebraska’s first game could be an added bonus.
Nebraska/Cincinnati was originally set to be played at Lucas Oil Stadium, home to the Indianapolis Colts, but it was recently announced that the game will be moved to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Nebraska would have travelled well regardless, but now that it will only be a quick three hour road trip, expect droves of Husker fans in Kansas City on August 28th.
