As spring football has come to an end the Huskers sit in a unique position. With the exception of Chamar Brown deciding to go to the University of Miami, the Huskers have landed almost every major target they pursued in the portal. That being said, there is not much “need” for the Huskers going into fall camp. Every season over the past 20 years we have been able to point to at least 1 positions group pre-season and say they look weak, they don’t have the players or even the depth needed to compete. The Huskers look like a complete team heading into the 2025 season.
To start, the offensive line looks stout with enough depth to compete at a high level as long as we stay relatively injury free. There are 4 backups on this offensive line that would have started on last year’s offensive line. With the expectation being to keep Raiola clean and open up a few holes a game, this line should meet and exceed expectations.
The Quarterback room is in good hands at 3 deep and the running back room is “ok” but that’s all we may need in this Holgerson offense. You will still see 30 runs per game but a lot of swing passes and we’ll timed screens to negate the rush. Running backs being the only position group that im not overjoyed about, but there are still some hidden gems hidden at 3 or 4 on the depth chart. Keep an eye out for Jamarion Parker as the season draws out.
The wide receiver and tight end rooms are stacked heading into 2025. With Lindenmeyer, Haarberg, Nelson and Mac Markway at tight end the Huskers have no worry. Dane Key(Led Kentucky), Nyziah Hunter (Led UCLA) and Jacory Barney starting at wide receiver with Bell, Mills and Bonner in on rotation, the receiver room could be the deepest in the Big 10.
On defense the Blackshirts look to suffocate offenses again this year. With a stout 5 man rotation on the defensive line, a now veteran linebacker core and secondary the Defense looks as stable as it’s ever been. While there is no standout player yet, the unit, itself seems to be very solid.
Going into 2025, with this depth chart the Huskers are looking at a 9 win expectation with that elusive CFP earning 10th win within reach. Now the Huskers need to stay healthy and come together as a team to reach their goals this coming fall.
